One of my favourite things about this blog is when a comment comes in response to a post that far surpasses the original post in insight, wisdom… and even on occasion in wit.
Michael Wear has a good question for “family values evangelicals.”
It is hard to imagine a time when over 300 Christian theologians have been able to stand together and agree on anything, let alone a strongly worded passionate document of nearly 2,000 words.
Yesterday in my post “Words I Need To Say” (https://inaspaciousplace.wordpress.com/2017/11/18/words-i-need-to-say/), I reflected on some important and helpful statements Kate Leth believes men need to practice saying.
I confess, I don’t usually get Twitter; somehow it is a step too far for my limited, slightly arrested, social networking capabilities.
“Clean blood!”
It is obviously an intentionally provocative opening line:
Christianity has died in the hands of Evangelicals.
In an opinion piece in the New York Times yesterday, David Brooks posed a troubling question that should be deeply disturbing to anyone who identifies as a Christian:
Any man whose world has not been shaken by “MeToo…” has either not been paying attention, or dwells in a realm of purity, innocence, and exemplary behaviour that is foreign territory to most men during at least some moments in our lives.
Jerusalem – Capital of Israel

Yesterday CBC took an unusual interest in evangelicalism in the US. The issue that has captured the Canadian Broadcaster’s attention is the US President’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
