These things were all taking place in line with the Divine purpose for all of life that had existed from the beginning of time as shown through the prophet who said, ‘A virgin will conceive and bear a son who will be named Emmanuel,’ which means ‘God is with us.’

Gabriel spoke to her again, saying, “Do not be frightened Mary. God has given you great grace. You are going to conceive and bear a son; you will name him Jesus. He will make healing and wholeness available for all people. He will be great and will be called God’s Son. God has ordained that your son will rule over all of life forever.”

Mary asked Gabriel, “How can I conceive a child when I am a virgin?”
