So they did show up. Members of Westboro Baptist Church today spewed their hateful venom outside the funeral of Marine Sgt. Kevin Balduf. (see June 10, “A Book of Love or Hatred?”)

For the record – this is not the faith Jesus taught. This is not Christianity. It is not civilized, humane, or in anyway a reflection of the Gospel. This is not the faith I practice. It bears no resemblance to the truth and light I see in Jesus.

Twenty-seven year old Marine Sgt. Kevin B. Balduf of Nashville, Tennesee was killed on May 12, 2011 in Helmand Province in Afghanistan. He was shot by a member of the Afghan National Civil Order Police. His funeral will be held on Monday June 13 at Woodmont Hills Church of Christ in Nashville.
